How She Look More Like Toya Than Toya: Reginae Carter Confuses Fans While Posing with Mom Toya
She got it from her mama! Actress Reginae Carter has fans doing a double take in a recent pic because of how much the 22-year-old favors her mother, Toya Johnson. Over the weekend, Carter was dressed in a sweater dress and black booties. She completed her look with a black Chanel bag with fur details.
“Swipe over to see my creator 😏see where I get it from ?” Carter captioned her post.
In another photo, the Louisiana native stood next to her mother. Johnson, 37, rocked a tan sweater with a buckle at the neck, black leggings, black leather thigh-high boots, and a Chanel cross-body purse.
Fans couldn’t help but fawn over the “twinning” photo of Johnson and Carter and complimented both ladies for looking like all that and a bag of chips.
“Lord, your creator is 🔥.”
“Beautiful 🤩 ladies, SHE GETS IT FROM HER MOMMA 🔥🔥🔥🔥❤️.”
“How she looks more like Toya than Toya? 🤔.”
“Toya truly birthed herself a twin 😍😍.”
“You are Gorgeous, sis. You are truly your mother’s child.”
“It’s the twins for me! 🥰🥰.”
Genes aside, the resemblance between Johnson and Carter also can be attributed to the fact that Johnson gave birth to Carter at age 15, so Johnson is still a fairly young adult herself. Carter’s father Lil Wayne was 16 when she was born.
“When I had Reginae, I was extremely young and didn’t know the first thing about being a mom,” Johnson said in a 2019 interview with Kontrol Mag. Johnson gave birth to her second daughter, Reign Ryan Rushing, by her fiancé Robert “Red” Rushing, in 2018.
Now that Johnson is older, she feels more experienced in motherhood.
Even though Carter is an adult, the dynamic mother-daughter duo maintain a tight bond. The “T.I. & Tiny: Friends and Family Hustle” reality star plays an active role in her daughter’s life by giving her relationship advice on boyfriend YFN Lucci, who’s currently behind bars in connection to a murder case.
“I’m always trying to school her on things that I had to learn. Some things I learned the hard way. Some things I learned from older people that shared knowledge with me,” Johnson said in a 2020 interview with Black Enterprise.
“And I always pass it down to my daughter because I want her to win. I think she has so much potential, and I’m always here to support her in each and every business move that she makes,” she added.
Carter, who landed roles in Lifetime’s “Pride And Prejudice: Atlanta” and the TV One film “Dear Santa, I Need a Date,” thanked her mother for always teaching her how to be a go-getter.
“You don’t have to call anybody, just figure it out — or look it up. She’s always told me to be educated. There’s nothing more attractive than an educated Black woman,” said Carter in the interview.
One shouldn’t be surprised that, along with good looks, Carter also inherited a hustler’s mindset from her entrepreneurial mother, who owns Before Bed Headz, a bonnet shop.
